Men's Open Spiel 2023

The Bel-Con Design-Builders Men's Open Spiel was held on November 24 & 25, 2023 at the Quinte Curling Club in Belleville, Ontario. This annual event, which dates back to the 1980s, was a huge success with teams from Toronto, Kingston, Cobourg, Stirling, Campbellford, and several local teams from the Quinte Curling Club competing for the top prize.

Originally sponsored by Bel-Con Engineering Ltd., the Bonspiel was rebranded under the Bel-Con Design-Builders name in 2016. This year, all prizes were in the form of cash, making the competition even more exciting for the participants.

Sixteen teams vied for the title, and after two days of intense competition, the winners were announced. In the Bel-Con "A" event, the champions were the team from the Quinte Curling Club, consisting of Skip Craig Watson, Vice Jason Hope, 2nd Ryan Watson, and Lead Kevin Berry. The B event was won by Team Harris from Dixie Curling Club, while Team Hale from Royal Kingston Curling Club took home the C event title. The D event was won by Team C. Ripley of Quinte Curling Club.

In addition to the thrilling curling matches, the event also featured swag provided by Triple Bogey Brewing Company, including their signature "Hurry Hard" beer. On Friday night, Triple Bogey sponsored draft beer and the Westside Pizza Factory provided delicious food for the players and spectators.
