Bel-Con Leaps Ahead in 2025 Top Metal Builders Rankings
Here at Bel-Con Design-Builders, we were delighted to discover recently released statistics that show Bel-Con's growth as a steel building contractor. In early May, Metal Construction News announced their list of 2025 Top Metal Builders and once again, Bel-Con was listed within the top 100 contractors in North America.
We were especially grateful to see how much higher we placed in the rankings for both top contractors by tonnage and top contractors by square footage in 2024. In tonnage, we moved up from 78th place to 49th, and by square footage, we leap-frogged from the 86th spot to 56th.
Growth in a changing market
According to the article, there has been a notable downward shift in the market share of the top 10 contractors and erectors from the trend toward consolidation seen in the past decade. Companies like Bel-Con appear to have benefitted from this shift within the market.
With regard to tonnage, Bel-Con 2024 projects doubled the amount of steel utilized compared to the previous year. That represented a 211% increase in the total square footage from the amount used in our projects in 2023. All in all, Bel-Con purchased 234,780 square feet of steel, which included both structural components and wall and roofing materials. Our increase reflects the large jump in amount of steel purchased industry-wide from 2023 to 2024.
