Bel-Con is turning 50 this year!

That’s right, this southeastern Ontario construction company has been delivering high-quality construction projects for half a century, and we think that’s something worth celebrating. To mark this milestone, we’re taking a trip down memory lane and looking back at some of the world events and cultural highlights that were happening in 1973.

In 1973, the Skylab space station was launched into orbit, a new era of “disco” music was born, and the iconic Pink Floyd album “The Dark Side of the Moon” was released. Closer to home, construction began on Toronto's CN Tower, while our American neighbours welcomed the opening of the World Trade Center in New York City. Even more importantly (at least to us!), Bill White and Barry Brown founded Bel-Con as a full-service construction company offering design-build services at a time when few were doing so. Since then, Bel-Con has grown steadily to become one of the leading design-build and industrial metal roofing companies in southeastern Ontario.

"We're thrilled to be celebrating this milestone anniversary," says Michelle Stephens, one of the current owners of Bel-Con. "It's a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone who has been a part of this company over the years."

Tom Gunsinger, Bel-Con's co-owner, adds: "We're proud of the reputation we've built over the past 50 years. We've worked hard to establish ourselves as a reliable and trustworthy construction partner for businesses across the region."

The company has been a Butler Builder for nearly 45 years, and has received numerous awards including North American Butler Builder of the Year (Eastern Region) as well as the Quinte Business Achievement award on two separate occasions.  In addition, Bel-Con has received many accolades for its exceptional workmanship and quality customer service.  What Tom and Michelle are most proud of, however, is the relationships they’ve built with their clients and employees.

"We're committed to delivering high-quality workmanship and excellent service to all of our clients," says Michelle. "It's one of the reasons why so much of our business comes from repeat clients and referrals."

As Bel-Con looks towards the future, Tom and Michelle are focused on continuing to provide exceptional service to their existing clients while seeking out new opportunities.

"Our vision for the future is to keep doing what we do best - building strong relationships with our clients and delivering high-quality construction projects," says Tom. "And we're always looking for ways to give back to our community and support the people who have supported us over the past 50 years."
