The Township of Georgina awarded us the contract to provide an arena cover over the existing outdoor refrigerated ice pad in Pefferlaw and also replaced the existing picnic shelter. Components used included Butler’s Widespan structural system with Clearspan frames over the arena surface; these frames were hot-dipped galvanized for longevity and low maintenance. The roof and wall systems both utilized Butlerib panels. The facility is lit utilizing energy-efficient LED lighting fixtures. The project also includes a canopy that created a link to the existing Zamboni/refrigeration equipment building.
Construction was started and completed entirely in the winter, beginning mid-December 2017 and reaching Substantial Performance by March 2018. This project was funded by the Canada 150 infrastructure program.
