New Bel-Con Location: A Moving Experience | Date: 21/11/2017
For more than thirty-six of our forty-four year history, Bel-Con has conducted business from the same location. During that time, a great many projects got their start (meeting and planning-wise) at 10 Dundas St. in Belleville. Over the years, we've constructed a great many buildings, re-roofed many more, and provided maintenance and renovation services for a wide variety of businesses from the Muskokas, to St Catherines to Ottawa and everywhere in between. So, when it came time to say farewell to our old headquarters, it was only natural that there were mixed emotions about making the move to a new home.
We had more than forty years of paperwork and memories to pack up. Plans, drawings, and a whole lot of history that represented thousands of hours of work and the contributions of so many talented people. It would be so easy to lose ourselves in looking back... fortunately, we had a tight schedule to keep, and we pride ourselves on managing projects to a successful conclusion. Time to put aside nostalgia; we had a new office space to furnish and outfit!
Sure, we'll miss the old place, but there are several good reasons for moving. Mostly, we had outgrown the old space and our new location gives us:
- More office space for a growing team
- More storage space for organizing records and documents
- More parking for staff and visitors
Plus, the new space is within the industrial park, putting us closer to many existing and potential clients. It's easier now for clients to come to us or for us to visit them. We're also closer to the 401. Easy access to the highway makes travelling to other job sites in our core business area of Eastern-GTA - Peterborough - Kingston more convenient, plus it's easier for us to receive shipments of equipment and hardware. Did we mention we have more space? Having increased material warehousing capacity means we can easily organize and store more of the parts we use onsite.
We also have more space for meeting with clients. We have a small meeting room and a much larger conference room which has an open feel to it and is large enough for small to medium-size groups. It will be perfect for our monthly team meetings, lunch 'n' learn seminars and safety training sessions. Of course, we won't be using this space all the time, so we're happy to make it available to local businesses who are looking to book a space for their own meetings and events. One of the mixed(?) blessings of our new location is that it's all on the ground floor. While this makes our office a much more accessible space, it also means some of us may not be getting as much exercise as we used to running up and down the stairs. Apart from this, the new digs are practically perfect for our growing team.
